CLB Charolais is proud to be celebrating their 12th year as a Registered Charolais Herd of quality show and seed stock. The herd started in the Spring of 1996 when the Bostdorff family bought their first cow/calf pair from the Rhoades Family of Southern Ohio - named Sweet Pea and Moonlit Jewel. Since then, the herd has continued to improve and grow. Over the years, the operation has expanded to include three members of the Bostdorff family - Chuck, Elizabeth, and Brittanee. And in 2005, three separately owned herds were merged into one - creating CLB Charolais. CLB is proud to be a member of the American International Charolais Association (AICA), the Ohio Cattlemen's Association (OCA), Wood County Beef Producers (WCBP), and National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA). While family members Elizabeth and Brittanee were junior showmen, CLB participated in shows on a local, state, and national level - including 4 American-International Junior Charolais Association Junior National Shows. Some of their largest honors came in the Summer of 2003, when cattle owned by CLB, showed by Brittanee, won Grand and Reserve Champion Heifers in the Ohio State Fair Junior Charolais Show, along with Champion Showman Honors. Other honors received by CLB include: Ohio Charolais Herdsman 2002, Ohio Premier Breeder 2001, Ohio Premier Exhibitor 2000. In 2004, CLB started selling show calves to local 4-H and FFA participants. As of 2007, CLB was excited to have 12 of their calves shown at the Wood County Fair in the Market Steer, Market Heifer, Jr. Breeding and Beef Feeder classes. 2005 brought special honors for CLB as Matilda, owned and show by Levi Richards, won Supreme Female in the Wood County Jr. Fair Jr. Breeding Show. CLB continues to strive to provide quality show and seed cattle to people who are interested in the Charolais Breed. If you have any questions about Charolais cattle, or our operation, please feel free to contact us! |

As CLB has grown, they have consistently improved the quality of their cattle, not only for breeding, but also for showing. While our cattle might not always be the flashiest in the barn, they will be consistent in quality and provide a sound base to any breeding program. Also, our cattle are competitively priced, making them affordable to anyone who is interested. Prior to buying a calf, that calf is halter broke to lead. Of course, it will take continued work; however, getting a calf started is the hardest part. Should you have trouble with your calf during the year, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to assist. Also, we understand how important grooming is to showing cattle. If you are new to the show ring and would like some help on learning how to fit and trim your calf for the show, CLB is ready with clippers and show foam in hand to teach you a few tricks of the trade. CLB's main goal is to help continue the Charolais breed as we move into a new generation of cattle owners. If you are interested in starting your own herd, CLB might have just what you are looking for. For those who are new to the breed, CLB will register your calf in your name, as well as register you as a member of the AICA. CLB will also help you figure out the right bull for your heifer, so that your breeding program can get started in the direction you want. CLB understands the amount of work and effort that goes into showing cattle - we have been doing it since 1993! However, our main goal is to just enjoy the beef industry and showing cattle. Our cattle might not always win, but we always have a blast in the barn! If you are interested in joining the CLB family - please do not hesitate to contact us! We already have calves on the ground for the 2008 showing season and beef feeder eight-in will be here before you know it - so DON'T WAIT!!! |

CLB prides itself on having an all-natural breeding program. Our cows are grazed year-round using a rotational grazing program and allowed to come into heat and calve at their own natural timing. This allows CLB to have calves available year-round to fit any number of showing or breeding needs. Our herd consists of 30 cows and heifers that are bred by two bulls - Double H and Dave. All of our animals have constant contact with our family and are selected not only for their conformation, but also their disposition. Handling and selecting our cattle in this fashion, we are able to provide calves that, if continued to be handled properly, will work well for a cattlemen of any age.
